The final statement

‘The generation that has already passed has bequeathed to us to protect the world with all our might, as the most valuable thing on Earth for all its inhabitants. And we have neglected his precepts and devalued our memory of these people and the victims of that war.’

Esteemed Court,

I am accused on the basis of two posts on Facebook, two years old at the time of my arrest. From this, I conclude that these texts of mine are just a pretext, and that I have been persecuted for my initially anti-war and now openly pro-Ukrainian stance, which I not only do not hide but try to demonstrate as widely as possible at every opportunity. I consider this war to be a rare conflict in which the truth is absolutely on one side, and that side is Ukraine’s.

Trying to wash away the fratricidal shame our country has covered itself with, I helped Ukrainian refugees and expressed my sincere hope for Victory (Peremoga in Ukrainian—ed.) on social networks in every possible way. I was and still am convinced that if Russians are to find freedom, it can only come as a result of this very Victory, just as Japan and Germany found freedom precisely in the aftermath of war.

Alexander Gorodnitsky (Soviet poet and bard—ed.) said: ‘Victory is not always necessary for freedom, sometimes defeat is more necessary…’

But let’s return to the charges against me. I am accused of publicly allowing myself to dream about Putin’s hanging. Yes, I indeed dream of living to see such a celebration.

I am sure that our dictator deserves this kind of execution just as much as other military criminals hanged by such a verdict – for example, at the Nuremberg Tribunal. Putin is exactly such a  deceitful tyrant, having appropriated for himself unlimited power, with his hands in blood to the elbows. And my assessment is fully confirmed by the arrest warrant issued for him by the ICC in The Hague. Could I have, in these dreams, forgotten about mercy, about ‘mercy to the fallen,’ so to speak? Again—no. Because at the ‘mercy’ of this butcher, blood continues to be shed every day.

And since as we all know he won’t resign voluntarily, his arrest and execution are the only way to stop the fratricidal bloodshed he unleashed against the people closest in kin to the Russians—the people of my native and beloved Ukraine.

Now, because of the maniacal ambitions of our Führer, in my native Dnipro my numerous relatives, classmates, and childhood friends are sitting in basements waiting for shelling and bombings. Why? Because our ‘sun-faced leader’ didn’t play enough with toy soldiers as a child? Because, from my observations, he became a fan of the Führer himself and seems to be following his example?

And thus, I insist on  justice, reason, and, if you like, the expediency of this cherished dream of mine. Or, paraphrasing the famous lackey Volodin (Speaker of the Russian parliament—ed.), let’s put it this way: ‘Where’s Putin—there are rivers of blood, no Putin—no bloodshed’ (In 2014, Volodin said: ‘If there’s Putin—there’s Russia’—ed.).

I hope I have sufficiently and clearly justified my dream.

Then let’s move on to my second charge. I am also accused of inciting hatred towards the FSB. Yes, I indeed do not like this agency, which is an absolute analogue of the Gestapo during Hitler’s Reich, and even surpasses it in infamy and brutality. How, you ask? Because German executioners, though by inhumane methods, fought against the real enemies of the Reich and the Führer, rather than inventing them.

Our Putin’s Gestapo agents just invent ‘enemies.’ With the help of hired provocateurs, they create ‘terrorist organizations,’ and then ‘expose’ them. For the sake of the stars on their shoulders, the medals on their chests, for their careers, they destroy the lives of teenagers and their parents with no sympathy, since they have no sympathy for a rabbit being eaten.

This disgusting practice manifests in the Novoye Velichiye, Set, and Kansk teenagers cases. One of the Kansk boys, 14-year-old Nikita Uvarov, was kept in pre-trial detention for almost a year. And at 16, he was sentenced to 5 years in a penal colony. For a terrorist act in Minecraft. Who, tell me, can be capable of imprisoning a 14-year-old, in essence a child? Aren’t these modern Gestapo agents monsters? Can they be called human?

Generally speaking, the text that my charges are based on was written still in state of shock following the verdict in the Kaliningrad Case. If anyone has forgotten, I remind that this case concerned two newlyweds sentenced to 12 and 13 (!) years for photographing a chance guest at their wedding who happened to be an FSB officer. Barely the day after the wedding, the newlyweds received these wild sentences.  After this what should I feel towards the employees of our Gestapo?

I cannot but add that at least in the Set case confessions from young people were obtained by electric shock torture. Torture the judges preferred to ignore. Judging by the geography of these cases, by the courts’ compliance in these cases, I conclude that this cannibalistic, monstrous practice is precisely a practice, and not isolated extremes. And what should I feel for the employees of this beastly agency? Immense respect and puppy delight?

And what feelings should I have towards this department after the poisoning of Navalny, Kara-Murza, and several other poisonings by a special group of loyal assassins traveling around the country for their victims? Are these the  ‘warm hearts and clean hands?’

Explain to me, knowing all that I have listed, what is one supposed to feel towards this department of henchmen, sadists, murderers, and snitches? And why do I not have the right to share my disgust with those around me? Doesn’t Article 29 of the Constitution guarantee me the right to disseminate open information?

Thus, it seems to me that I have sufficiently justified my position on both charges.

Therefore, I consider Zhlobitsky a hero. Although I do not justify terrorism! Did Putin’spower leave him any other way to protest, except for suicide by self-detonation? Did the judges pay attention to the traces of electric shock torture on the body of the defendant Filinkov (a figure in the Set case—ed.) during the trial? Have any members of State Duma  sent inquiries to the Investigative Committee or the prosecutor’s office on this matter? Did First Channel or VGTRK (Russian State TV channels—ed.) utter anything about the 5-year term for the teenager Uvarov? What forms of protest were left for the heroic truth-seeker Zhlobitsky? If ‘Klaas’ ashes’ burns the heart, only the ‘desperation of the brave ones’ is left …

Now a few more words. During the sessions, my numerous administrative detentions were repeatedly mentioned, evidently as an aggravating circumstance. Probably the prosecution thinks this will somehow cast me in a negative light.

So I must affirm that I never went to protests for fun or out of boredom, but always only in defence of justice and in strict accordance with the Constitution, which in Article 31 guarantees all of us the right to peaceful assembly.

I’ll say more. The act of going out onto the streets to protest I considered not only a right but also a duty of citizens to protect their civil rights. And I often forced myself to do this, overcoming my own laziness, fatigue, and other circumstances.

And, respected judges, prosecutors, and investigators, I defended your rights as well. So that you could elect a power accountable to you. And so that, when making one decision over another, the deputies you elected would think first of all about your reaction, your approval or disapproval of these decisions. So that they would depend on you in some way. So that your sons, brothers, fathers, husbands would not be brought in to this criminal war and not returned to you in a plastic  bag. It seems to me that you are no less interested in this than me. Just more afraid. For these good intentions, I was detained many times, fined, and imprisoned.

And a couple more words. I’m addressing everyone who hears me and those who will read these words.

If you ever hear or read that ‘Krieger changed his mind…’ or ‘Krieger backed down, apologised, etc., know this: my loved ones or I are in serious danger.

And finally, my short appeal to my glorious fellow countrymen—defenders of my native Ukraine.

Dear Ukrainians!

My dear friends!

The worst thing for me is that I cannot be with you.

I cannot join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

I can only wish you Victory!

Good fortune to you, brothers and sisters!

Glory to Ukraine!
