The Final Statement

Your Honour,
It has been nine or ten months since we were detained and charged in this case. During that time, we spent three months in a temporary detention facility within the pre-trial detention centre. Six months have passed since then. We have not violated any of the rules imposed on us during our detention; we continue to abide by them and respect the law.
Turning to the case itself, I would like to point out that, as far as I am concerned, my name is not mentioned anywhere in any of the 22 or 16 Temirov LIVE materials submitted for expert examination, which were discussed at several previous hearings. During the trial, it was established that I had nothing to do with them. The experts themselves also confirmed that I was not involved.
As I said at the previous hearing, throughout my eight or nine years of journalistic work, I have never received a warning from any government agency accusing me of preparing material that allegedly disseminated false information or called someone’s personal dignity into question. I have carried out my journalistic work within the law and in accordance with journalistic standards.
I would like to add that we ask for just one thing: that you deliver a lawful and fair verdict. I believe this decision will go down in history. Thank you!
